Guess what? The line,” how can this be seeing that I know no man”, did not start with you. It’s as old as man itself, although we have different versions but it’s still the same message, “how can this be”…
We could try to trace it from Abraham to Moses to Joshua (I believe so because Moses kept saying fear not like a million times to him), Gideon to Esther, to Jeremiah, to Zachariah to Mary the mother of our Lord Jesus Christ, to Imisi (yes! Me inclusive) to Oluchi, to Fathima, trust me the list is endless…. *whew*. So you see my dear no be today e start, e don tey. God isn’t mad you asked the question or feel the way you do, however, do not remain there.
Alright let me start from the beginning…
I was in church on Wednesday 4th Dec 2013, when my ever looking young pastor led us to Luke 1:26-45. I was eagerly waiting for verse 37(for with God all things are possible…) so I could scabash seriously, ALAS verse 34 jumped at my face coupled with the fact that Pastor T read the verse repeatedly, so my scabashing and rhema word came from verse 34 (omo you cannot kip God in a box mehn!). God started playing out scenarios in order for me to understand this verse… please follow closely;
Luke 1:34—-> then Mary said how can this be, since I do not know a man?
Literally what this verse means, how can she bare a son since she had not made love or had sex with a man? BUT God showed me another meaning to this same scripture; Imagine God shows up and promises you a Job in a firm where you do not know anyone and there is no notice that they are recruiting or even when they are recruiting, you know the appointment is by who you know… your response to God will be, “how will this be? Since I know not anyone (MAN) in the organisation”
Let’s imagine God promises that you will get that contract, government appointment, VISA, admission, life partner, a child etc … the next thing we are thinking or asking is “who do I know” or “how can this be?” (especially when it looks really impossible).
So for me this verse means a lot of things to me especially this season we are in. Yes! we have 25days left to wrap up the year and God is probably saying to you as He is saying to me, “ Imisi I will do this, I have promised that”… and am like, “yes, I trust you Lord but how will this be because honestly it looks super impossible, 25days to make all these happen plus the ones of next year and years to come, I am seriously chewing faith mehn”.
Then He took me to the next verse,
Luke 1:35a—-> and the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you…
I am like WOW; HE knows we need supernatural assistance to position ourselves to receive from Him, to do all He has commanded us to do and to conceive that which HE has spoken over us. For this reason, He sent the HOLY SPIRIT to teach us, help us, guide us and above all live in us, so He doesn’t just overshadow us once in a while or per time as it was in the Old Testament rather HE dwells in us so we can always live a supernatural life 24/7 believing all HE has said.
So any Mary or Zachariah out there, please note that for all that you expect to see happen before the end of the year, you need the help of the Holy Spirit, else your natural mind will see to it that you remain in an euphoria of “how will this be”…. thus a perpetual place of unbelief and remember that nothing happens in the place of unbelief.
You might not know any man but hey, you know and have God and His Spirit resides on the inside of u. Most times God’s promises, ways, instructions etc, look impossible but fear not, HE is an expert in making impossibilities, possible irrespective of the timing, and HE is second to none in this field.
So the next time the thought of “how will this be” comes up again, my dear, fear not, relax and remember the Holy Spirit will not just overshadow you to make these things happen but He also resides in you to help you conceive all that has spoken over your life. All you need do is believe and release your FAITH. Leave the HOW to God and focus on WHAT He will have you do. Somebody say HOLY SPIRIT I need You… Sweet Holy Spirit…
